Family Arabian Mare

  

The Family Arabian Mare (abbreviated FAM) was introduced in 1961 when the Proud Arabian Mare was first discontinued and followed the creation of the so-called In-Between Mare, which was not officially released by Breyer. The FAM, unlike the other two molds, has a tail that rests free of her hock and buttocks. Early models have only the round "Breyer Molding Co." stamp. The "U.S.A." stamp was added in 1970, and some of these also have the "B" stamp. The mold was sculpted by Chris Hess and is Breyer mold #8.

All of the early Family Arabian models in alabaster, appaloosa, bay, charcoal, and palomino were used singly and in multiple sets and in touch-ability display boxes. While these boxes and sets have different numbers they used the same model, i.e. the palomino Family Arabian Foal was the same in #6 as in #456.
